Smith Publicity Book Marketing: E-Book Marketing Tips


Hi, I’m Marissa Eigenbrood, Vice President
at Smith Publicity and I’m here today to talk about eBook marketing efforts. eBooks can be a really great tool to have
for your book launch or for any initiatives that you have going on around the book, either
pre or post launch. A great resource for eBooks for us in publicity
is using an ebook for last minute requests from the media. So if we have a radio interview or a television
interview that’s requested a bit last minute, it can be great to be able to send an eBook,
you know before the interview tomorrow or the next day where by regular mail in a print
version it wouldn’t get there as fast. So that can be a great tool for our promotional
efforts. Another great way to use eBooks is through
online marketing efforts such as BookBub or NetGalley where you can offer the eBook for
review possibilities. Again, another great tool to not have to always
send out a print copy, which can also be a lot more expensive too than an eBook and. A third way, and kind of similar to the second
one, is to use the eBook for promotions and giveaways. So again, your eBook is a less expensive option
than your print books. So it can be great to do a reduced price on
Amazon for an eBook and drive people to the listing to buy the eBook instead of the print
and build up reviews. All in all, when you are using an eBook, don’t
forget about different formats. PDFs are great, but make sure you’re considering
an EPUB or MOBI file as well. And as trends are showing us, don’t forget
about audio books too. They’re really quite popular and are continuing
to grow into 2019 so you have lots of options to explore.
